Full of energy

Well that was weird. This morning at about 4am I decided t change the tower p 91 elevator servo because I felt that this was causing the swash to twist rather than even throw upwards. Put on the old esky 8g with the short arm. That worked nicely. Then the I put the link into the last hole on the pitch arm. That gave an even throw to the whole swash. I also repositioned the swash up about 4 turns. The effect was a much more responsive and lively bird, but also nice and stable, even though this was with the gear on. Quite happy with gear on! I must look around for smaller balls for the gear. So out to kc Simon and I went. 2 packs only. Two guys in crash recovery vans were playing with their electric drift cars. Found the heli funny. Got some out and back, side on nose-in going and home.

secret

Could only get out at 10.30 so had to go to secret location. With 3 packs hovered around without training gear for a change. My conclusion is that the bird is sick as it veers backwards even though the cg is set. Man, what a pain. anyway life with a HBK....

kc nite

Still practicing safe flying! Got the training gear cut really short to reduce the weight but still give protection. I can learn much better in the heli is not trashed! Really sorting out the cg problems but flying in a mild wind forces you to compensate anyway for all sorts of outside influences. Only are slight breeze at 10.15 pm but very cold. Mystery pack gives 15 discharged to 3.70 per cell.

kc nite

cold, clear windless night 4 packs. mystery doing well. yet another session with tg. Guy stopped to ask me if he could film for his kid. i said ya sure. He than said ok it's not for his kid it's for himself! He was bored of drifting cars, because they only do so much and wanted to get into helis! This guy is an actuary so when he asked what he should buy I told him no limits.

misty nights

After agonizing about whether to risk flying in the mist, into the soup I ventured. For some reason or other, the swash refuse to move and stay parallel on it's way up the shaft and tilting lest at the top! No matter what adjustments made the fing would not stay level. After messing around for 30 minute I thought ag lets just go fly, if you crash out whatever. Well, KC mid deck was misty but as friendly as always. Put the gear on, on the second pack and got some good movement. Nose-in is getting easier but only with gear on. I have adopted the attitude that I am stupid and will crash if I rush, so I limit gear off time until I am totally comfortable, however long that takes. On Mystery mystery pack. 15 minutes and pushed it hard. 4.15 to 3.72 average.

new pack

The Mystery pack arrived from Dealextreme today as well as the lama cnc stuff. The Cnc stuff fitted the commanche perfectly. i will be completing the set-up tomorrow. Everyone has said do not buy the mystery packs. They are cheap (R160) so I thought why not. At the moment I only need power to scoot and hover as i am working hover, nose-in, side-in and orientation. I am going really slowly at this because I have reached the conclusion that rushing is pointless.
Anyway, the pack looks like this,
side on. This pic was taken when the pack was uncharged.....it already looked puffed!!!

It fits nicely in the hbk like so.

The night's flight went well. Did general hovering and moving around with some nose-in etc and also some close calls without bending a f/s, but with blade tips scraped

After 20 minutes of flight on the pack it showed no sag and a volt test showed the cells to be down from 4.15 to 3.83 average. Just slightly warm. Not bad. Lets see how long it lasts!

mIl hall

Ok tormented souls. With wet feet these are the crap pics i took. Judge for yourselves if its worth the bucks to try this hall.

pissing in ct

Pissing in ct today KC out as flying spot as just to wet. Will have to go to SL1 and hope. Interestingly, guys are using Maynard Mall as a venue to drift electric cars beause the guy knows the manager. I was banned from using the area but went in and begged for contact with management. We'll see, but very doubtful. I have to go track my blades after the last flight crash and then go check out the Mil Base Hall tonite.
Very variable availability! I will post some pics if possible.

(p)bitches and curves

Nice flyin tonite at kc but sadly went into a pillar at the end of the session. Always the f*(&&ing pillars. Just getting fly towards myself and away again right too! Regarding the training pitch recommended by dave day, see the pic.
